Rosanna Morris has been named president of 1,070-bed Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Mich., replacing Shane Cerone, who left earlier this year to become a consultant with Van Conway and Partners.
Morris, 48, who is expected to start at Beaumont in late summer, was recruited from Nebraska Medicine, a two-hospital system in Omaha with a 600-physician faculty practice plan, where she has served in a series of executive positions since 2008, most recently as the system's interim CEO.
"Rosanna's 20-plus years in health care, and deep background in academic medicine, will advance Royal Oak's continued development as one of the nation's premier academic medical centers," Carolyn Wilson, Beaumont's executive vice president and COO, said in a statement. "She will bring fresh perspectives and ideas, and a passion for exceptional patient care and service, to her new role at Beaumont."
Morris has experience with system operations, developing strategic plans and clinical program growth. She also served on the steering committee that created Nebraska Medicine, merged the academic physician practice group and implemented an Epic Corp. electronic health record system that Beaumont also has installed.
Nebraska Medicine also is part of University HealthSystem Consortium, of which eight-hospital Beaumont Health is a member.
She began her health care career as a staff nurse in the multi-organ transplant, trauma and vascular services unit at Stanford University Medical Center.
Earlier, Morris received an MBA from Colorado Technical University and a bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of San Francisco. She is completing a master's degree in public health from the University of Minnesota.
