Veteran statistician Aarti Shah has been named senior VP and CIO at Indianapolis-based pharmaceutical giant Eli Lilly.
In her role, effective July 1, Shah will lead more than 1,300 employees and contractors throughout the world.
Shah started work as a senior statistician at Lilly in 1994, having completed a doctorate in applied statistics from the University of California at Riverside. Since then, she's held technical and administrative leadership positions in the U.S. and overseas, including as executive director of global information sciences. Most recently, since 2013, she has served as global brand development leader for immunology.
"As a visionary and inspirational leader, Aarti has a proven track record of building strong, flexible and sustainable organizations,” Derica Rice, executive VP of global services and CFO at Lilly, said in a news release. “She is known for her relentless focus and passion for developing people. And her deep knowledge of drug development will be vital as IT touches every aspect of our business," said Rice, to whom Shah will report.
