Beacon Health System in South Bend, Ind., has joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
Beacon is the first Indiana-based health system to join the network. Under terms of the agreement, the two-hospital health system will remain independent but will have access to Mayo's specialty physicians, expert database on medical conditions, library and consulting services.
Beacon can also participate in Mayo's cancer board conferences to discuss management of complex cancer cases. The north central Indiana system offers pediatric and gynecologic oncology care.
Mayo has partnered with more than 35 provider organizations across the U.S. since 2011. Other systems in its network include Dartmouth-Hitchcock in Lebanon, N.H., ThedaCare in Appleton, Wis., and WellStar Health System in Marietta, Ga.
