MOREHOUSE, La.—The governing board of the Morehouse General Hospital, Bastrop, La., is talking with a Texas company about helping operate the hospital.
The (Monroe, La.) News-Star reports that the board is negotiating a management agreement with Community Hospital Corp. of Plano, Texas.
The hospital previously entered into negotiations with Iasis Healthcare. Those negotiations ended in April.
Jim Albritton, interim chief executive officer and chief financial officer at MGH, said the hospital hopes to complete the management agreement with CHC soon.
The hospital is dealing with financial problems. In April, Albritton said fewer patients is the main reason for the hospital's financial woes.
Albritton says a management agreement could cost the hospital $600,000 a year.
The board would remain in charge of day-to-day operations and the management firm would report to the board.
