Who: Rulon Stacey, 55
New role: As a managing director in Navigant's healthcare segment, Stacey will oversee the Navigant Leadership Institute, which provides guidance to healthcare systems as they transition from a fee-for-service model to value-based environment.
Former roles: Served as CEO of Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis from November 2013 to February 2015. Previously, he was president of University of Colorado Health, as well as CEO of Poudre Valley Health System, Fort Collins, Colo. Poudre Valley merged with the University of Colorado Hospital in 2012 to form UC Health.
Seeking broader impact: At Navigant, Stacey said he will be able to have an impact on the industry as a whole—working to improve outcomes and the patient experience—rather than just an individual hospital or system serving as an executive.
A different approach: Stacey said he will begin his role at Navigant understanding how it diverges from his previous positions. Running a health system's operations requires a set of skills “to rally the troops,” he said, adding that he knows he'll use many of those same tools, but in different ways for different audiences.
