Johnny Veal has been named chief nursing officer at George Washington University Hospital, Washington, D.C. He was director of critical care and nursing administration at the hospital from May 2015 to October 2015, and was then named interim CNO.
Veal, 58, previously has held numerous nursing leadership positions, including VP of patient care services and CNO at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, N.C., for three years.
Dr. Christopher Hall has been named chief medical officer of Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Walla Walla, Wash., effective April 11. He takes over for Dr. Michael Bernstein, who served as CMO from 2008 to 2015 before leaving to become CMO of facilities for the California region of Providence Health & Services.
Hall, 46, currently serves as chief medical information officer for Mercy Health System of Maine, a post he has held since December 2011.
David Pillsbury will become the next CEO of the Laser Spine Institute, Tampa, Fla. He will succeed Bill Horne, who has served as CEO since November 2005 and is moving to the role of executive board chairman at the company.
Pillsbury, 53, joined the Laser Spine Institute in 2015 as its president. Previously, he served as chairman and CEO of Outback Sports for eight years.
