Henry Ford Hospital's Dr. Henry Lim, chair of the department of dermatology, has been named president-elect of the American Academy of Dermatology.
He begins his tenure during the AAD's annual meeting this week. In March 2017, he will become president and serve for one year.
The AAD represents more than 18,000 physicians who specialize in the diagnosis and medical, surgical and cosmetic treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions.
Lim will be Henry Ford's third dermatology chair to hold one of the top leadership positions at the AAD. The late Dr. Clarence Livingood was president in 1967 and the late Dr. Edward Krull was vice president in 1987. Lim served as vice president of the AAD in 2007.
He is also past president of the American Board of Dermatology. Lim obtained his medical degree from the State University of New York in Brooklyn, and completed his dermatology training at the New York University School of Medicine in New York.
