Cerner Corp. has named John Glaser senior VP of population health and global strategy. He begins his new position on April 1.
He will lead the Kansas City, Mo.-based company's population health technology and product strategies, interoperability efforts and government policy development, according to a news release.
“Population health management is the future of health care as the industry transitions to new payment models and focuses on providing care outside the four walls of the hospital,” said Glaser in a statement. “Cerner will continue innovating to bring the best solutions to market and enable organizations to develop near- and long-term strategies to manage their populations.”
Currently, Glaser is senior vice president of client administration at Cerner.
Glaser is the former CEO of Siemens Health Services, and came to Cerner in 2015 as part of Cerner's $1.3 billion acquisition of Siemens.
He previously was VP and CIO at Partners HealthCare, based in Boston. Glaser also served as VP of information systems at Brigham and Women's Hospital, also located in Boston.
The founding chair of the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives, Glaser also is a past president of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.
He has published a trio of books covering the strategic application of information technology in healthcare, including the textbook Healthcare Information Systems: A Practical Approach for Health Care Management.
