Skilled-nursing and rehabilitation provider Mid-Atlantic Health Care is acquiring four skilled-nursing facilities in western Maryland from Magnolia Management.
As of Jan. 1, the Timonium, Md.-based company will own and operate Northampton Manor Health Care Center (Frederick, Md.), Devlin Manor Health Care Center (Cumberland, Md.), Julia Manor Health Care Center (Hagerstown, Md.) and Moran Manor Health Care Center (Westernport, Md.).
Magnolia, based in Hagerstown, Md., will continue to provide rehabilitation services at the four facilities.
The acquisitions will increase Mid-Atlantic's network to 21 locations and its number of beds to 4,000, which CEO and co-founder Dr. Scott Rifkin said will provide more efficient and productive relationships between skilled-nursing facilities, hospitals and insurers.
“The skilled-nursing world is changing very quickly and we have to offer solutions to hospital systems and to insurers,” Rifkin said. “It makes a lot of sense to have a network of facilities that cover a geography or cover a hospital system's footprint.”
Mid-Atlantic will introduce its data-mining technology to each of the new facilities, which Rifkin said gives staff real-time updates on health measures for patients.
The company is awaiting approval from Pennsylvania regulators for another pending acquisition.
