Post-acute giant Kindred shuffles senior executives

Kindred Healthcare, the giant chain of post-acute care hospitals and nursing homes, announced two changes to its senior management this week.

The Louisville, Ky.-based company named Peter Kalmey as president of its hospital division, effective January 1. Kalmey, 41, replaces Steven Monaghan who is retiring at year end,

In another move, Kindred has appointed Joseph Landenwich as its general counsel and corporate secretary. He succeeds M. Suzanne Riedman, who is retiring on Jan. 31 as general counsel and chief diversity officer. Landenwich has served as co-general counsel and corporate secretary since May 2012. Riedman became general counsel in 1999.

Kalmey has been COO of the Kindred's hospital division since October 2013. That was the same month that Monaghan was appointed the division's president.

Investor-owned Kindred, after acquisitions this year, has annualized revenue of about $7.2 billion. It manages 95 transitional care hospitals, 18 inpatient rehabilitation hospitals and 90 nursing homes among its operations in 47 states.
