The newly created Beaumont Health has appointed Carolyn Wilson as COO.
Wilson, 53, will begin working at Southfield, Mich.-based Beaumont on Jan. 18. The system was created in September 2014 when Beaumont Health System merged with Botsford Health Care and Oakwood Healthcare, both in the Detroit area.
John Fox, former CEO of Emory Healthcare in Atlanta, joined the $3.8 billion system as president and CEO in March and has since been building his executive team.
Wilson previously served as executive VP and COO of Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis, where she oversaw operations at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, five community hospitals and a number of clinics, senior residences and retail pharmacies. She also served as president of UMMC and co-president of University of Minnesota Health.
Before working at Fairview, Wilson served in a number of positions at the University of Chicago and University of Chicago Medical Center between 1998 and 2011, including COO at its hospital.
