Joseph Mallas, 49, has been named president and CEO of U.S. HealthWorks, an occupational health and urgent-care subsidiary of San Francisco-based Dignity Health.
Mallas' promotion was announced Tuesday. He took office immediately. The position has been vacant since earlier this year when the previous CEO, Dan Crowley, left the company.
Most recently, Mallas served as the company's COO, a position he was appointed to in March of this year. He has worked at U.S. HealthWorks since 1997.
The Valencia, Calif.-based company operates 222 clinics and worksites in 20 states.
