Dr. Amit Powar has been named CEO of Reading Health Physician Network.
Powar, 41, began his role at the 300-physician organization this month. The network is a part of the Reading Health System in West Reading, Pa.
Before joining Reading, Powar was VP of the affiliated network and regional operations for Great Neck, N.Y.-based North Shore-LIJ Health System. In that role, he was responsible for the development of the system's medical group, ambulatory enterprise and hospital operations within a region of the health system.
Powar joined North Shore-LIJ in June 2003 and went on to serve in a number of other positions, including assistant VP of ambulatory services and VP of community and public health.
