The American Hospital Association has promoted Ashley Thompson to senior VP of public policy analysis and development.

Thompson, a 12-year veteran of the organization, will help the AHA develop policy positions while also playing a role in steering the advocacy agenda.

She most recently served as the association's acting senior executive for public policy analysis.

Previously, she was VP and deputy director of policy, a role she held since 2012 after serving as health policy adviser to the U.S. Senate Finance Committee. Earlier she spent four years as senior associate director of policy at the AHA.

    Hospitals and Health Systems

Chicago-based Rush Health has named two new executives to its C-suite.

Dr. Michael Raymond is now chief medical officer of a network of hospitals and physicians that includes Chicago's Rush University Medical Center. He replaces Dr. Catherine Dimou, who took an academic position at Rush University. Also, Julie Bonello was appointed the system's CIO. She returns to Rush after beginning her career as a nurse at the system's flagship hospital.

Raymond, 62, previously served as associate chief medical quality officer at Evanston, Ill.-based NorthShore University HealthSystem. In that role, he also served as medical director of Evanston-based Community Care Partners, a collaboration of four health systems focused on caring for Medicaid-eligible patients.

Bonello, 59, most recently served as CIO at the Chicago-based Access Community Health Network, a federally qualified health center network. She also held CIO positions at Lurie Children's Hospital and Cook County Health and Hospitals System, and worked in healthcare IT consulting at First Consulting and PricewaterhouseCoopers, all in Chicago.

    Young

Lisa Young has been named VP and CFO for post-acute services at Community Hospital Corp., a Plano, Texas-based organization that owns, manages and consults with community hospitals.

Young, 48, replaced Kliff Rodgers, who remains a part of the post-acute services team in a special-projects role.

As CFO, Young will be responsible for overseeing the finances of CHC's long-term acute-care hospitals and other post-acute care facilities. The company currently owns 10 LTACs and expects to open another in early 2016.

For the past five years, Young served as CFO of Lumin Health, an Irving, Texas-based multispecialty medical group.

Dr. Doug Gentile has been named chief medical information officer at the University of Vermont Medical Center.

He started his new role at the Burlington-based academic medical institution at the end of October. He replaced Dr. Adam Buckley, who is now CIO at the University of Vermont Health Network, a partnership of four hospitals in Vermont and northern New York state.

Gentile, 60, will oversee the hospital's information-services staff working on clinical projects. He also will serve as liaison between providers and staff who maintain the hospital's EHR system.

Previously, Gentile was the medical center's medical director for clinical information systems, which includes applications that assist in clinical decisionmaking and documentation, and provider order entry. He worked in the emergency departments at Vanderbilt University and Stanford University before joining the University of Vermont in 1994.
