Julie Creamer has been named president of Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and Dr. Howard Chrisman has been named president of Northwestern Medical Group, which includes doctors in Greater Chicago.
Creamer, 57, and Chrisman, 50, began their new roles on Oct. 12. They replace Rick Gannotta, former hospital president, and Dr. David Mahvi, former medical group president.
Chrisman
The hospital and medical group are part of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, which is affiliated with Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. Creamer and Chrisman will report to the system's CEO, Dean Harrison.
Creamer, a nurse by background, has served on Northwestern Memorial HealthCare's senior leadership team since 1996. She most recently was senior VP of administration for the health system and chief transformation executive for Northwestern Medical Group.
Chrisman, an interventional radiologist, has been a doctor with Northwestern since 1997, most recently serving as VP of clinical operations for the medical group. He's also a professor of radiology and surgery at the medical school.

Van Grinsven
Gerard van Grinsven resigned last week as president and CEO of Cancer Treatment Centers of America “to pursue other interests,” the company announced.
Van Grinsven was replaced on an interim basis by COO Steve Mackin and Anne Meisner, CEO of the company's facility in Newnan, Ga. The Boca Raton, Fla.-based for-profit company operates five cancer hospitals in Arizona, Georgia, Illinois, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.
Before joining Cancer Treatment Centers in 2013, van Grinsven was president and CEO of Henry Ford West Bloomfield (Mich.) Hospital. Previously, he worked in the hotel industry, including a stint as VP and area general manager for the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Co.'s properties in Cleveland, Dearborn, Mich., Philadelphia and St. Louis.
Martin Smith will serve as executive VP of operations for Quorum Health Corp., a 38-hospital spinoff created by Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems. Smith, 48, is currently president of CHS' Division III, overseeing 35 hospitals in Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee and West Virginia. Fourteen of those hospitals will become part of Quorum once the spinoff is completed.
Thomas Miller was named CEO of Quorum in September, and the company's CFO, Michael Culotta, was also appointed earlier. Miller is currently Division V president for CHS, overseeing 33 hospitals in Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Culotta is CHS' VP of investor relations.
Blake
Steven Blake has been named CFO at Avanti Hospitals, a four-hospital system in El Segundo, Calif.
Blake, 62, started at for-profit Avanti on Oct. 13. For the past year, the CFO role has been filled by Brian Buchanan, a consultant with Alvarez & Marsal.
Prior to joining Avanti, Blake was owner and president of an accounting firm, as well as CFO and executive VP of Integrated Healthcare Holdings, a Santa Ana, Calif.-based hospital company now known as KPC Healthcare. He also served as a regional VP of finance for Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp., responsible for facilities in Arizona, California, Nebraska, Texas and Washington.
