Maureen Bisognano, president and CEO of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, has announced that she will retire at the end of the year.
Bisognano, 63, has served IHI for the past 20 years, spending the past five at the helm. Derek Feeley, the group's executive VP, has been appointed as her successor, effective Jan. 1.
Now an IHI veteran, Bisognano was recruited by Donald Berwick, the group's founder, in 1995. She served for 15 years as IHI's executive VP and COO before being named CEO.
