Heather Dexter has been named CEO of Emory St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta.
Dexter, 41, has served as the hospital's COO since 2011. She replaces Craig McCoy, who left to become CEO of Bon Secours St. Francis Health System in Greenville, S.C.
In 1998, Dexter began her career at St. Joseph's as an administrative resident. She went on to serve as interim director of both human resources and radiology; clinical services division director; VP of planning, development and allied health; and VP of surgical services and planning, before becoming COO.
During her tenure as COO, St. Joseph's expanded its footprint with the construction of an Orthopedic Joint and Spine Center, in addition to adding new programs and physicians. Dexter also served as executive project manager for the formation of the joint venture between St. Joseph's and Emory.
