A Pennsylvania hospital lost its bid to claim 1,350 bottles of confiscated wine to sell as a fundraiser. A Chester County judge ruled that a 1935 law that allowed seized alcohol to be given to hospitals intended the booze to be used for pharmacological uses. ... Another fundraising plan went more smoothly when Northwestern Lake Forest (Ill.) Hospital sold late filmmaker John Hughes' 17-room mansion for $4 million. Hughes' widow donated the manse to the hospital in 2014. Hughes wrote and directed “Home Alone” and “Ferris Bueller's Day Off.”
