Dr. Balvindar Sareen is the new chief medical officer of Lincoln Medical Center, a facility operated by the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp. in the Bronx.
Sareen, 59, started at the 338-bed publicly owned hospital earlier this month. His predecessor was Dr. Anita Soni, the hospital's chair of medicine, who served as interim medical director for a year.
Before coming to HHC, Sareen was VP and regional CMO at Presence Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago. Before that, he was medical director for inpatient services at Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System. He's also worked at St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, N.Y.; Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, N.Y., Pilgrim Psychiatric Center, Brentwood, N.Y.; and the Queens Long Island Medical Group, which is now a part of AdvantageCare Physicians.
The hospital, which has a Level I trauma center, sees about 425,000 outpatient clinic visits, 165,000 emergency department visits and 25,000 inpatients each year.
