Seton Medical Center, a part of the Los Altos Hills, Calif-based Daughters of Charity Health System, will soon have a new CEO.
John Ferrelli, 58, has been named president and CEO of the hospital in Daly City, Calif., as well as Seton Coastside, an affiliated skilled-nursing facility in Moss Beach, Calif. He'll replace Joanne Allen on Sept. 18, as she retires after 19 years with the health system.
Most recently, Ferrelli served as chief administrative officer at University of Southern California Norris Cancer Hospital in Los Angeles. Before that, he was COO at Avanti Hospitals in El Segundo, Calif., and also served as president and CEO at John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Indio, Calif., a part of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp.
Daughters of Charity has continued to struggle financially after its sale to Prime Healthcare Services fell through this year. The system secured a $250 million capital injection in July from private-equity firm Blue Mountain Capital Management, which could lead to a purchase after three years.
