Anthony Tardugno has been appointed senior VP and chief information and security officer for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana.
Tardugno, 52, started with the Baton Rouge-based insurer this month.
Before working at the BCBS affiliate, Tardugno was senior VP and CIO at Miami-based AvMed Health Plan. He also held positions at Excellus Blue Cross and Blue Shield and Kodak, both based in Rochester, N.Y., and Xerox, which is based in Norwalk, Conn.
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana is one of the insurers that sold plans on Louisiana's exchange. Louisiana Health Cooperative, the state's not-for-profit health plan created through the Affordable Care Act, announced this year that it would close by year-end. That leaves BCBS with the potential of enrollment spikes as customers look for new coverage.
