Who: Michael Englehart, 46
New role: President and CEO of Chicago-based Presence Health, the largest Catholic health system in Illinois. He will succeed Sandra Bruce, who has led Presence since 2011. He starts Oct. 1.
Current position: President of Advocate Physician Partners, a clinically integrated network with 4,900 doctors and 13 hospitals.
Crosstown competition: Englehart is leaving Chicago's largest health system for one of its major rivals. Presence Health had about 10% of Chicago's market last year, compared with Advocate's 18%.
Dealmaker: “With his proven track record of developing and implementing transformational strategies, establishing clinical alliances and strategic partnerships, and fostering collaboration to create highly integrated models of care, he has the experience, leadership and vision to successfully lead the transformational strategies we have embraced,” Guy Wiebking, Presence Health board chairman, said in a news release.
Fiscal challenges: Presence Health ended last year with an operating loss of $12.7 million on revenue of $2.6 billion, an improvement from a $60.3 million loss on revenue of $2.6 billion in 2013.
