Officials in two Illinois agencies say they'll process payments to Medicaid providers despite the state budget impasse.
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services and the Department of Human Services issued a statement late Friday saying the payments will continue as if a budget had been enacted for this fiscal year.
It says the decision follows a review of, "relevant consent decrees and recent court rulings." Payments will be to providers who serve more than just children, and details are to be announced soon.
A budget impasse between Gov. Bruce Rauner and Democrats who run the Legislature has created uncertainty for many agencies and providers. The governor vetoed most of the budget Democrats sent to his desk for the fiscal year that began July 1, noting it was almost $4 billion short of revenue.
