Baltimore-area orthopedic surgeon Dr. Lew Schon has another item to add to his 58-page curriculum vitae: Singing in front of 40,000 rock fans at Boston's Fenway Park.
The good doctor can also add “Internet sensation” to his CV since the event was caught on video. Schon performed after a patient invited him onstage to perform a cover version of the White Stripes' “Seven Nation Army” at a packed July 19 concert at the venerable ballpark. The patient just happened to be Dave Grohl, band leader of the Foo Fighters and former Nirvana drummer, who broke his leg after falling off a stage in Sweden on June 12. They met when Grohl was referred to Schon for follow-up care.
Several versions of Schon's performance appear on YouTube, including one that's been viewed more than 570,000 times and has 178 comments (ow.ly/QfdG1), including MedStar Health proclaiming, “He's always been a rock star to us.”
