Nicholas Tejeda has taken the helm as CEO of Sierra Providence East Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.
Tejeda, 36, began his new role in July, replacing Sally Hurt-Deitch, who is now market CEO of the hospital's parent system, Sierra Providence Health Network. The hospital system, based in El Paso, is owned by Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare Corp.
Before joining Sierra Providence East, Tejeda was CEO of Doctors Hospital of Manteca (Calif.), another Tenet facility. During his three years leading the hospital, he helped develop several new services, including interventional radiology, inpatient dialysis and a new outpatient wound-care center.
Tejeda also served as COO of Tenet-owned Twin Cities Community Hospital in Templeton, Calif., as well as VP of hospital and ambulatory operations at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno, Nev.
In 2011, Tejeda was recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of 12 Up & Comers in the healthcare industry.
