Todd Lupton has been named CFO for Mercy Health-Cincinnati, and other news makers

Todd Lupton has been named CFO for Mercy Health-Cincinnati. The move was effective June 22.

Before joining Mercy, Lupton, 52, was a partner with Trilogy Healthcare Solutions, a consulting and management services firm based in Madison, Miss. Previously, he was market CEO for River Oaks Health System, Jackson, Miss.

Robert Marmerstein has been named COO of Mainland Medical Center, Texas City, Texas. The move was effective in June. Mainland, an affiliate of Nashville-based HCA, is a campus of HCA's Clear Lake Regional Medical Center in Webster, Texas.

Marmerstein comes to the hospital from LewisGale Medical Center in Salem, Va., where he served as associate COO. He also served as a founding partner and board member of the Roanoke Health Care Alliance, a partnership of local providers in Virginia's Roanoke Valley that collaborated to provide education and resources to help local families navigate the healthcare system.

Nick Mendyka has been named CFO for hospital and clinics operations at the University of Virginia Medical Center, Charlottesville.

Mendyka, 33, served in the role on an interim basis for the past nine months. He joined the university's health system in November 2012 as part of the Strategy Implementation Office, where he provided strategic and business planning support and helped guide the development of centers of excellence and hospital expansion plans.

Previously, Mendyka worked with Aetna in provider network management and contract negotiations.

The University of Virginia has named Dr. David Wilkes dean of the school of medicine. His five-year appointment begins Sept. 15. Wilkes will succeed Dr. Randolph Canterbury, who has served as interim dean since November 2014.

A board-certified specialist in pulmonary disease and critical-care medicine, Wilkes, 58, is executive associate dean for research affairs at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

He has worked at Indiana University since 1992. In addition to his role as executive associate dean, he also serves as the university's assistant VP of research and as director of the Strategic Research Initiative for the Indiana University School of Medicine and Indiana University Health.

Healthcare giant McKesson Corp. has named Kathy McElligott CIO and chief technology officer.

McElligott's appointment as CIO, CTO and executive VP is effective July 20. She succeeds Randy Spratt, who announced his retirement after 29 years with the San Francisco-based pharmaceutical distributor and technology solutions company.

As CIO and CTO, McElligott will be responsible for the company's internal information technology operations as well as strategy related to the company's healthcare technology products.

McElligott comes to McKesson from Emerson Electric Co., a global manufacturing company, where she has served as CIO since 2010.
