J. Mark McLoone has been appointed CEO of St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia.
McLoone, 61, has worked in healthcare, mostly children's hospitals, for over 30 years. He took office earlier this month, replacing Carolyn Jackson, who left the Tenet Healthcare Corp.-owned hospital for another job.
Most recently, McLoone served as CEO of Pottstown (Pa.) Memorial Medical Center. His most recent role at a children's hospital was as CEO of Methodist Children's Hospital in San Antonio, a position he held for eight years.
McLoone also served as COO at the duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, Del., and CEO of the Children's Hospital at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center, while also serving as a COO for OUMC.
St. Christopher's is in the process of building a 110-bed critical-care tower and recently opened the Center for the Urban Child (PDF), which provides community resources and clinical assistance to low-income families.
