This is the final week to submit entries for Modern Healthcare's 30th annual Design Awards. The deadline is end of day Friday, June 19.
Contemporary healthcare design has evolved far beyond dazzling facades and inviting hotel-like grand entrances. Maximum functionality, flexibility for professional staff and an interior environment that's conducive to healing have become key priorities in healthcare architecture. Increasingly important is a building's “sustainability,” focusing on energy efficiency and environmentally friendly materials and construction processes.
The mission of the Design Awards competition is to recognize facilities that measure up to those criteria through excellence in design and planning. New this year: The program now includes an award category for “senior-friendly” facilities, those designed for the specific needs of older patients.
The competition is open only to registered architects. All types and sizes of patient-care-related facilities are eligible, built or unbuilt. Nominated facilities can be in the U.S., a U.S. territory or another country.
