Mike Dewerff has been appointed as president and CEO of UnityPoint Health's Fort Dodge Region.
Dewerff, 47, will oversee operations in the eight-county region in north central Iowa. Starting Wednesday, he replaced Sue Thompson, who is transitioning into her new role as UnityPoint's senior VP of Integration and Organization.

West Des Moines, Iowa-based UnityPoint provides care across Iowa, western Illinois and southern Wisconsin, and operates 32 hospitals, according to the system. The Fort Dodge region includes Trinity Regional Medical Center, BerryHill Center outpatient mental health clinic, various other outpatient clinics and home health services.
Thompson, 59, served as president and CEO of the Fort Dodge region for six years. She was recently appointed to an initial three-year term on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission; she's the only Iowan to ever be appointed to MedPAC and the only new member appointed this year.
