Madeline Bell has been named CEO of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, and other news makers

Madeline Bell has been named CEO of Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, effective July 1. She'll succeed Dr. Steven Altschuler, who is retiring after 15 years.

Bell, 54, currently serves as president and COO of the hospital, roles she's held since 2010. She began her career as a pediatric nurse at CHOP in 1983, but left the hospital to pursue a career in administration. She returned in 1995 to head the hospital's home-care and case-management division and served in several positions before becoming executive VP and COO in 2007 and president and COO three years later.

She will be the hospital's first female chief executive.

London Quicci has been named COO of Detroit Medical Center's Sinai-Grace Hospital.

Quicci, 47, began his new role this month. He has worked in the Tenet Healthcare Corp.-owned DMC for the past 22 years. Most recently, Quicci served as administrator of DMC Surgery Hospital in Madison Heights, Mich. He has also served as regional VP of surgical services for the DMC and associate VP of support services at Sinai-Grace.

Before joining the DMC, Quicci served in the U.S. Army from 1986 to 1990 and continues to serve in the Army Reserve. He did two tours in Afghanistan while working at Sinai-Grace.

Linda Chen has been named president of Mary Bridge Children's Hospital, a pediatric healthcare network based in Tacoma, Wash., that's part of MultiCare Health System. The move is effective June 15.

Chen, 43, currently serves as chief network and market officer at Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children in Orlando, where she has worked since 2010. In her role at Mary Bridge, a new position at the hospital, she will work to build new strategic partnerships for the organization.

Previously, Chen held positions in the sports and entertainment industry, where she developed innovative brand partnerships. She also worked for Walt Disney Co. in the alliance development business segment.

Triple-S Management Corp. CEO Ramón Ruiz-Comas will retire in January, ending a 13-year tenure as the top executive of Puerto Rico's Blue Cross and Blue Shield health plan. Triple-S COO Roberto García-Rodríguez will succeed Ruiz-Comas.

Triple-S covers more than 2.1 million Puerto Ricans, meaning 3 out of 5 residents have a Blues health plan. Ruiz-Comas, 58, joined Triple-S in 1990 and took the company public in 2007, making it one of the largest conglomerates on the island. The company recorded a profit of $65.7 million on $2.32 billion of revenue in 2014.

Triple-S is operating in a territory that is often excluded from the broader healthcare reform debate.

But Puerto Rico has embraced several portions of the Affordable Care Act, getting $925 million between 2014 and 2019 from the federal government, much of it tied to Medicaid.
