Dr. Daniel Napierkowski, an 18-year veteran of the Cleveland Clinic, has been tapped to serve as president of the health system's Euclid (Ohio) Hospital.
Napierkowski, 58, an anesthesiologist, has worked at the Cleveland Clinic since 1997. He started his new job Wednesday, replacing Mark Froimson, who became chief clinical officer of Livonia, Mich.-based Trinity Health in December.
Rich Lea has been serving as interim president of Euclid since November and will now continue in his role as VP of operations.
Most recently, Napierkowski has served as chairman of regional practice anesthesiology, overseeing the anesthesiology operations across the clinic's regional hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers. He'll continue to practice medicine while serving as president.
Napierkowski has previous experience at Euclid, having served as head of the hospital's anesthesiology department from 2000 until 2010, at which point he was promoted to oversee regional anesthesiology.
