Dr. John Young has been tapped to serve as national medical director of cardiovascular services at for-profit LifePoint Health.
Young, 51, will oversee quality, patient safety and clinical functions related to cardiovascular services throughout the system, LifePoint said. His appointment in the newly created position was effective Wednesday.
LifePoint Hospitals recently announced that it had been renamed as LifePoint Health. The 64-hospital, publicly traded system is headquartered in Brentwood, Tenn.
Young also will serve as chairman of the LifePoint Cardiovascular Physician Council, which provides guidance to doctors who are working in cardiovascular services.
Before joining LifePoint, Young was division chair for cardiovascular medicine at Adena Health System in Chillicothe, Ohio. He also served as an adjunct professor of medicine at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Columbus, and as an adjunct professor of cardiology at Ohio University's Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens.
Young has also worked at the Seattle-based Swedish Heart & Vascular Institute and the Ohio Heart and Vascular Center, a part of Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
