Scott Leitz, CEO of MNsure, the Minnesota health insurance marketplace, has been tapped to serve as chief transformation officer for the Health Care Cost Institute.
Leitz, 49, has been CEO at MNsure for the last 15 months. The exchange's board of directors has appointed Allison O'Toole, MNsure's deputy director for external affairs, as interim CEO.
O'Toole will take over on May 22, and Leitz is expected to join HCCI on June 8.
As Chief Transformation Officer at HCCI, Leitz will be responsible for promoting and expanding initiatives to make pricing and quality outcomes more transparent. He'll also oversee Guroo, a website that provides national, state and local cost information for common health conditions and services.
Before joining MNsure, Leitz was an assistant commissioner at the Minnesota Department of Human Services, responsible for overseeing and managing the state's Medicaid program. Prior to his work in state government, he was director of public policy for Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.
