Centene Corp., one of the nation's largest Medicaid managed-care insurers, has announced appointments for two medical executives.
Dr. Ken Yamaguchi, an orthopedic surgeon, has been named executive VP and CMO for the St. Louis-based company. The shoulder and elbow specialist will continue his work as an orthopedic surgery professor at Washington University in St. Louis, but in a part-time capacity.
Dr. Mary Mason, corporate CMO for the past nine years, has been named senior VP and CMO of Centene's specialty companies, which include providers of behavioral health, telehealth and benefits management, among other services. Mason is also an adjunct lecturer in health policy at the Olin Business School at Washington University.
Dr. Gary Call has been named chief medical officer at HMS Holdings Corp, a new position at the company, which provides coordination of benefits and payment integrity services for payers, including Medicaid plans in 45 states.
Most recently, Call, 56, was corporate VP of clinical programs for Molina Healthcare, a Long Beach, Calif.-based insurer focused on Medicaid managed-care plans. He held a variety of leadership positions in his 18 years at Molina.
