Centene Corp., one of the largest Medicaid managed-care insurers in the country, has announced appointments for two medical executives.
Dr. Ken Yamaguchi, an orthopedic surgeon, has been appointed executive VP and chief medical officer for the St. Louis-based company. He began his new role earlier this week.
The shoulder and elbow specialist will continue teaching as an orthopaedic surgery professor at Washington University in St. Louis, but in a part-time capacity.
Centene appointed former CMO Dr. Mary Mason as senior VP and chief medical officer of its specialty companies, which comprise providers of behavioral health, telehealth and benefits management, among other services. Mason has served as Centene's CMO for the past nine years.
In addition to her work at Centene, Mason is an adjunct lecturer in Health Policy at the Olin Business School at Washington University.
