Modern Healthcare is now accepting entries for its 30th annual Design Awards.
Contemporary healthcare design has evolved far beyond dazzling facades and inviting hotel-like grand entrances. Maximum functionality, flexibility for professional staff and an interior environment that's conducive to healing have become key priorities in healthcare architecture. Increasingly important is a building's “sustainability,” focusing on energy efficiency and environmentally friendly materials and construction processes.
The mission of the Design Awards competition is to recognize facilities that measure up to those criteria through excellence in design and planning. New this year: The program also includes an award category for “senior-friendly” facilities, those designed for the needs of older patients.
The competition is open only to registered architects. All types and sizes of patient-care-related facilities are eligible, built or unbuilt. Nominated facilities can be in the U.S., a U.S. territory or another country.
The deadline for entries is June 19.
