Tom De Weerdt has been appointed executive VP and CFO of Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates, an operator of ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals.
De Weerdt, 42, currently serves as VP and corporate controller of Mead Johnson Nutrition, a Glenview, Ill.-based maker of pediatric nutritional products. He will replace Pete Clemens on May 19.
Clemens, whose retirement was announced this year, will continue to work at SCA as a senior adviser. He expects to stay with the company through April 2017, according to a news release.
Before joining Mead Johnson, De Weerdt held several leadership roles at Whirlpool Corp., the Benton Harbor, Mich.-based appliance manufacturer. He served as CFO of Whirlpool Europe, Middle East and Africa, VP of finance for Whirlpool International and VP of financial development for Whirlpool Corp.
Like many surgery center chains, SCA has seen positive results as of late. Last month, it reported a $32 million profit on $864.7 million in revenue for fiscal 2014 after a $51.3 million loss in 2013. The company operates 186 surgery centers and surgical hospitals across the country.
