Who: Daniel McCoy, 55
New role: COO at home health and hospice provider Amedisys.
Major executive changes: The Baton Rouge, La.-based company announced last week that it had hired a CFO, COO, CIO, chief human resources officer, chief strategy officer and senior VP of government affairs. Its general counsel and CMO are leaving the company. Paul Kusserow joined as CEO last December.
Insurance background: McCoy comes to Amedisys after retiring as senior VP of operations with Anthem's commercial and specialty division. He said his background provides a solid foundation for his new role, noting it's about “the people, the process and the technology, understanding the workflows and what we can do to provide for the patient.”
On the C-suite shakeup: “I think, like anything else, we had a new leader come in, and regardless of what company you're in, the leader is going to bring in the best talent out there.”
Industry consolidation: “In the next three to four years, we'll probably see accelerated M&A activity in this business. I definitely see consolidation in the future.”
