To determine the 11th annual ranking of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders, Modern Healthcare began accepting nominations on Nov. 3, 2014. Through Dec. 12, 2014, readers submitted more than 400 nominations through ModernHealthcare.com. This year's nomination process asked for more reader input on specific criteria for judging the nominees, specifically executive responsibility, leadership qualities, professional achievement, innovation and community service.
How the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives were chosen
This year's ballot was composed of 150 names based on those nominations. From Jan. 6 through Feb. 20, readers could cast their votes for the one candidate they believed should be included in the final ranking of the 50 Most Influential Physician Executives and Leaders. More than 23,000 ballots were submitted.
As in previous years, readers' votes counted for 50% of the outcome to determine the final ranking. The other 50% was based on the opinions of senior editors at Modern Healthcare.
