Catholic not-for-profit SSM Health Care will join the Integrated Health Network of Wisconsin, allowing the accountable care organization to expand into south-central Wisconsin.
St. Louis-based SSM owns a network of clinics in Wisconsin, in addition to three hospitals: St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, St. Mary's Janesville Hospital in Janesville, and St. Clare Hospital in Baraboo. Adding SSM will expand the Brookfield, Wis.-based ACO to 45 hospitals, 555 clinics and over 5,700 physicians and other providers, the system said in a news release.
SSM, which owns facilities throughout the Midwest, also operates two skilled-nursing facilities and a home health agency in Wisconsin. It owns Dean Health Plan, which it acquired in 2013 following its purchase of Dean Health Systems, which included approximately 55 clinics.
IHN has negotiated over 20 value-based contracts with insurance providers and employers on behalf of its members. Its clinically integrated network includes Agnesian HealthCare, the Medical College of Wisconsin and Froedtert Health, in addition to other systems and independent physicians. IHN will now serve more than 3 million people with the addition of SSM.
