Kareo, a provider of cloud-based software and services for independent medical practices, has acquired DoctorBase, a patient communication platform, Kareo announced Tuesday.
DoctorBase's software is designed to help physicians with reputation management, online booking, appointment reminders and secure messaging.
Kareo expects to integrate the platform into its existing electronic health-record, billing and practice management software offerings, starting with a limited release early in the second quarter.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. DoctorBase's staff will join Kareo in combined offices in San Francisco.
The new, combined solution will enable doctors to automatically send a patient satisfaction survey after a visit, and can encourage patients to share their experience on social media. It also will allow physicians to engage in targeted communication for follow-up care.
Kareo will continue to offer DoctorBase software separately, with no change in pricing.
