Joseph Mauro, a former Siemens healthcare executive, has been appointed as a managing director in the healthcare practice of Chicago-based Huron Consulting group.
Mauro, 51, will focus on helping physicians and hospitals transition from fee-for-service care to value-based delivery systems, according to the firm. He started with Huron this month.
Before coming to Huron, Mauro worked in the healthcare business of German conglomerate Siemens for the past 30 years, serving most recently as national director of strategic accounts, after serving as VP of sales and VP of strategic accounts. There, he helped large national health systems with performance improvement, process re-engineering and clinical transformation.
Huron acquired well-known healthcare consultancy Studer Group in January in a $325 million deal. Huron Healthcare now comprises more than 1,500 employees and already accounted for over 50% of the firm's revenue before the acquisition.
