Richard Evans has been appointed senior VP, corporate comptroller and principal accounting officer at revenue-cycle management company Accretive Health.
Evans, 47, comes to the Chicago-based company after working at KPMG for the past 24 years. He started the role at the end of January.
Most recently, Evans was an audit partner at KPMG. He started his career with the company after graduating from college and worked his way through its ranks in Columbus, Ohio, Cleveland and Chicago.
Evans said he jumped at the opportunity to work with CEO Dr. Emad Rizk and CFO Peter Csapo, who were hired last year.
“I think my biggest priority here is to get the company current and timely in its SEC filings,” Evans said. “The company reached a large milestone at the end of the December by getting the 2013-K (annual report) done. We'll work on 2014 and getting the company current and timely in that regard, helping them remediate the internal control items.”
Accretive was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange last March for failing to file its 2013 annual report, which the company finally delivered to the Securities and Exchange Commission in December. Over the past year, the company has gone through significant restructuring to eliminate burdensome costs that yielded a significant loss in 2012, though reported that it was back in the black in 2013.
