A patient who presented with symptoms consistent with the Ebola virus was transferred from Mercy General Hospital in Sacramento, Calif., to UC Davis Medical Center Thursday morning, according to a statement from UC Davis. No further information has been released regarding where or how the patient may have potentially contracted Ebola.
UC Davis officials said they are coordinating their response with the Sacramento County Department of Public Health. All five University of California hospitals have been identified by the state's public health department as priority hospitals for treating confirmed Ebola cases.
UC Davis, which is just over a mile away from Mercy General, remains open and continues to operate as normal, medical center officials said.
The last diagnosed U.S. Ebola patient, Dr. Craig Spencer, was released from New York's Bellevue Hospital in early November.
