Pamela Paulk has been named president of Johns Hopkins Medicine International, a division of the academic medical system that develops international collaborations and provides medical concierge services for patients who come for treatment from abroad.
Paulk, 60, was most recently SVP of human resources for Johns Hopkins Medicine and the Johns Hopkins Health System. Her new title as president replaces a former CEO title for the position, last held in a permanent capacity by Steven J. Thompson, who stepped down in 2014.
After the international division was created in 1998, Paulk became VP of global services, leading the group through due diligence as it build new relationships with organizations abroad. She also served as VP of human resources for Johns Hopkins at that time.
The unit currently has 50 collaborations around the world, including a recent joint venture in Saudi Arabia designed to strengthen the local healthcare delivery system for the 350,000 beneficiaries of the Saudi Arabian Oil Company's medical services organization.
(Correction: Due to a typo, an earlier version of this story reported that Steven J. Thompson stepped down in 2011.)
