Dr. Jeff Thompson plans to step down this year as CEO of Gundersen Health System, La Crosse, Wis.
Thompson, 62, has been with Gundersen for three decades, serving the past 14 years as CEO. He'll stay on in his role until the hospital system finds a new leader. Gundersen includes a medical center, an inpatient behavioral-health facility, a health plan and more than 60 clinics covering various specialties.
Before he became CEO, Thompson was executive VP at the system from 1995 to 2001. His background is in pediatrics, pediatric critical care and neonatal and perinatal medicine.
Toni Ardabell has been named CEO of the five-hospital Bon Secours Richmond (Va.) Health System.
Ardabell has been CEO of Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond since 2009, a title she will continue to hold. She also has served as CEO of St. Francis Medical Center, Midlothian, Va. Before joining Bon Secours, she held several positions at Inova Fairfax Hospital, Falls Church, Va., including VP of its capital improvement program.
