Sarah Pacini has been appointed CEO of the Cooperative of American Physicians, a physician-owned company that provides medical professional liability protection in California.
Pacini, 39, will become CEO of the cooperative and the organization's Mutual Protection Trust on Feb. 1. She succeeds James Weidner, who is retiring after a decade as CEO.
Most recently, Pacini was VP of risk management and insurance for Downers Grove, Ill.-based Advocate Health Care, as well as president of Advocate Physician Partners Risk Purchasing Group and chairwoman of Advocate Insurance Segregated Portfolio Co. Pacini led the formation of a risk-purchasing group for Advocate Physician Partners, and had responsibility for insurance, risk financing, risk management and claims-management programs within the system.
Pacini was one of Modern Healthcare's 2014 Up & Comers, which comprises individuals the magazine recognizes as rising young stars in the healthcare management field. She has degrees in nursing and law and serves on the Captive Insurance Companies Association board of directors.
