Community Health Systems, Franklin, Tenn., has completed the sale of its ownership interest in Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, Hartsville, S.C., and related outpatient services to Capella Healthcare, also based in Franklin.The deal was effective Jan. 1.
Local physicians continue to own an interest in the hospital.
Divestiture of the hospital was required under an agreement with the Federal Trade Commission following Community's January 2014 acquisition of Health Management Associates. Company officials do not expect the transaction to have a meaningful impact on financial operations.
