Matthew O’Brien, 40, has been hired as a principal and senior research analyst on the medical technology equity research team at Piper Jaffray, the Minneapolis-based investment bank and asset management firm.
O’Brien will focus on orthopedic and spine businesses, and he’ll be based out of the company’s Chicago office.
Before coming to Piper Jaffray, O’Brien spent 10 years at Chicago-based William Blair & Co., where he was a senior analyst covering orthopedics, vision care and heart failure firms. Before working at William Blair, O’Brien worked in investment banking and financial advisory at New York City-based Duff & Phelps.
