The National Institutes of Health says an American nurse who was exposed to the Ebola virus while volunteering in Sierra Leone has been released from the hospital.
The facility said in an email Friday that the patient has no clinical or laboratory evidence of Ebola infection. NIH says the patient, who feels well and has no fever, will complete 21 days of monitoring at a private home in Virginia under the direction of that state's health department.
The nurse arrived at the Bethesda facility on Dec. 11. The patient had been transferred from an overseas location by private charter medevac in isolation and was admitted to the NIH Clinical Center.
The nurse's identity was not released.
